“I can’t lose weight on levothyroxine”

I hear this complaint every day, yet the solution is SO simple.

The Undoctored lifestyle is magnificently effective to achieve weight loss, prevent or reverse hundreds of health conditions, and to free you from prescription medications.

But many people who take levothyroxine (Synthroid), the T4 thyroid hormone, report NO weight loss on the program, along with persistent abnormal symptoms such as low energy, dry skin, and thinning hair, even depression. This is not due to the failure of the program, but is due to the lack of the T3 thyroid hormone, the truly active form of thyroid hormone.

Prescription Drugs That Block Your Ability To Lose Weight

Many prescription drugs (and some non-prescription) block your ability to lose weight and have likely caused weight gain over the time you’ve taken them. As long as you remain on one or more of these drugs, weight loss is very difficult or impossible. Getting off these drugs is therefore key to restore your ability to lose weight.

The Undoctored lifestyle can free you of the “need” for many of these drugs. Have a conversation with your healthcare provider (who is typically unaware of this effect despite studies demonstrating weight gain) to discuss a change to a drug that does not block weight loss or—best of all—getting off the drug entirely. If he/she does not support your effort, find a new provider, one who empowers you in place of one who obstructs your health.

There are plenty of good reasons to exercise . . . but losing weight is not one of them.

Yes, there are people, genetically-determined or armed with extraordinary determination, who can lose weight with a strenuous exercise program. But the majority lose a modest quantity and that’s the end of it. They even continue to torture themselves for years, telling themselves that they are burning calories, burning off fat, and if they would only exercise longer and harder they would lose weight–but don’t.

Is it worth exercising if it does not result in substantial control over weight? Yes, indeed it is. Among the reasons to exercise with some regularity include:
